Privacy Policy
Last updated: 04.09.2026
This privacy policy applies to the Deckrunners: Cyberpunk TCG mobile application for Android, published by InSight ("we", "us"). It covers version 2.0.0 and later, which is the first version with accounts and network features. Earlier versions had no network access at all.
Summary
Deckrunners is playable without an account and without a network. Your decks, your collection, your settings and your matches live on your device. When you use a feature that needs a server, such as the news strip, signing in, friends, playing another person, or sending a scan back to us, the app contacts our server at apps.insight-network.de and sends only what that feature needs. We do not sell data, we do not run advertising, and there is no third party analytics or tracking library in the app.
What stays on your device
Unless you use one of the network features below, all of this stays local and is never uploaded:
- Your decks, your card collection and your scan results.
- Your settings, your cosmetics, your account Eddies and your ledger.
- Your match history and any match in progress.
- Photos taken by the card scanner, see "The card scanner".
Uninstalling the app removes all of it.
Signing in with Google Play Games
Signing in is optional. Playing as a guest is a supported state and every feature of the app works either way.
If you do sign in, Google Play Games gives the app two things: your Play player id and your display name. Nothing else is taken out of the Play Games SDK. We use the player id to identify your account across devices and reinstalls, and the display name to put a name on your runner dossier. Your Google account email address is not read by the app.
Google's own handling of your Play Games account is governed by the Google Privacy Policy at https://policies.google.com/privacy .
The news strip and the roadmap ballot
The app downloads a news file from our server to show announcements, patch notes and rules tips. That download sends nothing about you beyond the ordinary technical information any web request carries, meaning your IP address and the time of the request.
Voting in the roadmap ballot sends a random install id, a UUID the app generates the first time you vote, together with the option you chose. The id is not derived from your phone, your account or anything else about you: it exists only so that two votes can be told apart and so a second vote replaces your first. Reinstalling the app creates a new one and the old one is orphaned.
Friends
Your friend code and your contact list are stored on your device. An invite you share is a link or a QR code that carries your friend code and your callsign, and it goes wherever you send it.
Where the app uses our server for friends, such as claiming a callsign, looking up a code, or delivering a request, it sends your account identity, your friend code and your callsign, and stores them so the other person can find you. Do not use a callsign you do not want other players to see.
Playing another person
An online match is relayed through our server. What travels is what the match needs: the room code, the deck each side has chosen, the random seed the match runs on, and every move as it is made. Both devices run the same rules engine over that data, and our server carries the messages rather than reading your hand.
Match messages are kept only for as long as the room is live. We may keep a short technical log of room creation and errors to fix problems with the service.
The card scanner
Card recognition runs entirely on your device. The photo the camera takes is processed locally and is not needed after the card is identified.
Separately, the app can send a scan photo back to us to improve recognition. This is controlled by the "Contribute scanner images" setting, the scanner asks you about it before it applies, and turning it off stops any image leaving your device. When it is on, what is sent is the photo of the card and the printing it was matched to, nothing that identifies you or your account. Please do not photograph anything but a card while the setting is on.
At the time of writing this upload is not yet switched on: the app keeps the consent you gave and sends nothing until the feature goes live. This section describes what happens when it does.
Permissions
- Camera, only for the card scanner's camera mode, only while you are using it. The scanner also works from an image you pick, and the app runs without ever granting it.
- Internet, for the features described above.
Information collected by Google Play
The app is distributed through Google Play. Google may collect information independently of us, for example when you install or update the app, and may provide us with aggregated crash reports and technical diagnostics through the Google Play Console. This data is not linked to your identity by us. Google's handling of it is governed by the Google Privacy Policy at https://policies.google.com/privacy .
Children
The app is not directed at children under the age of 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us at the address below and we will delete it.
Data retention and deletion
Everything stored on your device is removed when you uninstall the app.
For data on our server, meaning your account, your friend code and your callsign, your roadmap vote, and any contributed scan images, write to pixellogicisg@gmail.com from the account concerned, or include your friend code, and we will delete it. Match relay data is discarded when the room closes.
Third party services
The app uses the Google Play Games SDK for optional sign-in. It contains no analytics, advertising or tracking libraries.
Changes to this policy
We update this policy when the app gains features that change what is sent. Any such change is published here with a new date, and where the change is significant we will make it visible in the app before the feature becomes available.
